Overview
The first King of Pops sales were made from a used ice cream pushcart on an Atlanta street corner in 2010.
A purveyor of fine frozen treats, King of Pops grew quickly as their delicious products became popular throughout the southern states. With that growth came the need for everyone in the organization to understand each other’s roles and accountabilities. Capturing that information in a typical org chart wouldn’t work, and manually creating this ‘accountability chart’ with standard office software proved almost impossible.
Business Challenge
Nick Carse is the co-founder of King of Pops. “As we grew, we took on more and more employees,” he explains. “We needed a way to let the whole team know what everyone’s roles and accountabilities were.”
Excel or Powerpoint charts were difficult and time-consuming to create and edit, and couldn’t accurately represent the information that Carse and his team required. These manual charts were also difficult to share across the organization, and ongoing staff changes made it almost impossible to ensure everyone had the most current version in hand.
As a smaller organization, King of Pops needed a solution that was cost-effective to implement and maintain, and the power and flexibility to address the challenging accountability charts.
Organimi was easy to implement and use. Everything made sense — it was very intuitive.
Nick CarseSolution
“We’d started a program called Entrepreneurial Operation System (EOS),” Carse explains. “It called for an accountability chart — and while it looked like an org chart, it was much more complex. We could no longer use a spreadsheet, and that’s when I began looking at alternatives.”
Carse learned about Organimi through a Google search, and the positive online reviews convinced him to trial the solution. “Organimi was easy to implement and use. Everything made sense — it was very intuitive,” says Carse.
As King of Pops grew, the team relied more on Organimi to document the org structure as well as individual roles and accountabilities. Organimi’s cloud-based structure simplified both version control and the distribution of updates across the organization, ensuring everyone had access to the most current information.
Benefits
By using Organimi, Carse and his team were able to simplify the creation and maintenance of the accountability charts, saving them substantial time and effort.
“Ease of use for chart creation and editing is a plus for us,” says Carse. “Flexibility is also a big part of it. And, of course, so are the affordable price point and minimal operating costs.”
Carse believes that Organimi has helped achieve his most important goal — bringing the entire King of Pops team together. “With the charts we produce using Organimi, our employees have a better understanding of their accountabilities and how our whole structure works,” he explains. “They can see what everyone is responsible for across the entire organization. Everyone feels more connected.”
