Overview

Industrial Valve (IVS) has provided industrial valve solutions to its customer base for over 45 years. Along with new valve sales, IVS offers a range of value-added services, including investment recovery & repair-by-exchange programs, plant inventory surveys, and various training seminars for safety and valve operation and optimization.

With a growing team operating from three locations and several distinct business divisions, IVS needed a simple, efficient tool to create and manage multiple org charts.

Business Challenge

Stinson, IVS’s payroll manager, was tasked with creating and maintaining multiple org charts to reflect the company’s various divisions. “We weren’t using an org chart tool at that time, and things quickly became complicated,” she says. “We had some people, including managers, that appeared on more than one org chart. The charts also had to show other information, like how many technicians were on each team.”

IVS’s leadership team was also charting an aggressive growth path for the company, including potential mergers and acquisitions. It required clear, professional org charts that could be shared with potential partners and other external stakeholders. Manually-created charts were neither detailed nor professional-looking enough to satisfy that requirement.

Finally, the IVS needed org charts to help communication and collaboration across all its branches, especially with so many employees working remotely during the pandemic.

Stinson conducted a Google search to determine which org chart solution would provide the most utility. “I tried Organimi and several others as well,” she says. “Organimi was an easy choice.”

She found Organimi Version 5.0 straightforward to implement and use. Stinson quickly created org charts for each division and a separate chart for the IVS management team. With Organimi, she could include additional information in the charts, like dual-reporting structures and headcount totals for each division. “I also really liked how I could edit information for each employee if required,” she says.

After using Organimi Version 5.0 for almost a year, Stinson upgraded to Version 7.0. “At first, it was a challenge,” she says. “It has different layouts, but once you learn it, Version 7.0 feels very similar. Plus, it has better functionality and a lot more capabilities than Version 5.0.”
