Every day, Eva’s provides shelter, housing, and support for 157 young people in Toronto aged 16 to 24. Eva’s offers transitional housing, education, and support programs to youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Tony Cortes is the People and Culture Manager for Eva’s. “When I joined Eva’s, they were using non static, outdated software to create org charts,” he says. “It was slow and temperamental, and our charts didn’t look good.”
The contract and agency staff meant that Eva’s org charts required frequent updating, and Cortes and his team needed a solution to quickly create and modify the charts. “We were looking for a seamless solution with a lot of functionality,” says Cortes. “And, as a non-profit, we needed it to be cost-effective.”
“We are often managing and distributing ten versions of the org chart,” he continues. “So the solution had to be quick and easy to use. At the same time, we wanted to do things like add staff photos or show dual-reporting. We couldn’t do those before.”
Organimi lets us produce multiple org charts in various formats. With Organimi, we can quickly create, modify, and distribute all those org charts.
Before joining Eva’s, Cortes was introduced to Organimi as part of study assignment to identify the most effective org chart tools. His research led him to Organimi, so when the leadership team asked him to find a replacement, Organimi topped his list.
“Organimi lets us produce multiple org charts in various formats,” says Cortes. “For example, a chart with just senior management, or charts with or without staff photos. Or we’ll needed charts for workforce planning or to share with consultants. With Organimi, we can quickly create, modify, and distribute all those org charts.”
Using Organimi, Cortes can also add additional information such as photos or the total number of each manager’s direct reports. The charts can also illustrate dual or complex reporting relationships.
Eva’s has recently begun using Organimi upgraded Version 7.0, and Cortes is looking forward to the enhanced features and flexibility the new version offers.

With Organimi’s inherent flexibility, Cortes could also respond quickly to requests from his leadership team and other stakeholders, producing custom org charts containing a wide range of information. “Our senior management team was blown away,” says Cortes. “Coming from the limitations of our previous software, we now had charts that looked so much better and clearly reflected the information they were looking for.”
“Our employees were happy, too,” he says. “Everyone loves seeing their photos, and with so many new and transitioning staff, the photos made introductions and collaboration easier.”
“Overall, I love using Organimi,” says Cortes. “It serves our purposes well, and the interface is very clean. I’m a big fan of the solution.”
