Overview

AdventHealth operates 46 hospital campuses and nearly 8,200 licensed beds in 10 states, serving more than 4.7 million patients annually. Advent Health’s Cardiovascular Institute operates eight geographically-dispersed facilities across Central Florida.

Business Challenge

Before rebranding and standardizing under one name on January 1, 2019, each AdventHealth entity used a different means to create and update their org charts. Often these were painstaking and time-consuming manual processes, employing tools like PowerPoint or Adobe.

The result, dozens of org charts with different looks and structures, meant that sharing information from entity to entity and even locating an appropriate contact was difficult at best. This challenge led to some leaders to look for a more consistent and holistic view of the organization for planning and HR purposes.

With org charts being created locally, leaders from AdventHealth’s Cardiovascular Institute began looking for a tool that was powerful, yet simple to use for a range of administrative staff with diverse technical skills.

Solution

Frank Fiorito, the project manager at AdventHealth’s Cardiovascular Institute at its Orlando flagship campus, began testing online solutions for org chart creation and maintenance. He quickly learned that Organimi, while easy to implement and use, also provided the flexibility to address the demands of AdventHealth’s large, complex environment. “We needed a better way of doing things than the way we were doing them before,” says Fiorito. “That’s where Organimi came in.”

Key for Fiorito was Organimi’s import capabilities. He was able to easily import employee data in a wide range of formats, including from Excel and CSV files. Fiorito found the LinkedIn import feature particularly useful — with a single click, he could import employee LinkedIn profile data directly into Organimi. “All you have to do with Organimi is load in the information, and you’re ready to go,” explains Fiorito. “It does it all seamlessly.”

The Organimi solution also provided the flexibility for each AdventHealth entity to customize individual org charts and add additional information if required. And, once created, updating the Organimi org charts was as simple as making changes to a central file and refreshing the application. 

Benefits

Fiorito began receiving positive feedback as soon as he began rolling Organimi out. Administrators of all capabilities reported that it was easy to set up, use, and maintain. Users also noted the significant reduction in time and effort needed to manage the org charts using Organimi.

The common look and feel of the Organimi org charts also made it much simpler for CVI staff to use, critical in a geographically-dispersed institute with hundreds of employees at eight campuses around Central Florida.

With the broad organizational view created by the Organimi solution, the Cardiovascular Institute’s leadership team could more readily identify hiring gaps, recruit, onboard new employees, and track longer-term resource requirements. “Organimi is a great tool for people to stay situationally aware of the big picture of the organization,” says Fiorito. “As well as giving everyone the ability to contact whomever they need.”

Fiorito is pleased that Organimi integrates with a wide range of premise and cloud-based CRM and HR solutions such as Salesforce. With Organimi’s success within the Cardiovascular Institute, Fiorito feels it has strong potential to meet the requirements of other business units across the evolving AdventHealth organization.
