GOALS

Achievement Network needed a solution that could pull data from Google without manual updates. The ability to create data-rich charts and share/print them in PDF format was also important.

OBSTACLES

Previously, the Achievement Network HR team had attempted to use their HRS system to create org charts but found it challenging to configure. The resulting org charts were limited in their functionality.

RESULTS

Setting up the integration to Achievement Network’s Google Workspace took absolutely no time. Keith anticipates significant reduction in the time and effort required to create, modify, and maintain the org charts.

Overview

The Achievement Network (ANet) helps schools in at-risk neighborhoods improve student learning and close the achievement gap. Active in over 940 schools in 26 states and currently serving over 330,000 students, ANet fosters great teaching based on data-supported learning standards and education best practices.

With over 220 employees, ANet needed an org chart solution that was cost-effective and easily maintained with minimal resources. The solution also had to be flexible enough to integrate with existing applications and data sources, with the ability to share organizational information with external stakeholders.

Business Challenge

Previously, the ANet HR team had attempted to use their HRS system to create org charts but found it challenging to configure. The resulting org charts were limited in their functionality. The alternative, creating charts in Google Slides, was time-consuming and couldn’t capture all the information the team required.

Integration was also a concern. “We needed a solution that could pull data from Google without manual updates,” says David Keith, Managing Director, Tech Xperience at ANet. “It also had to be simple to embed in our intranet.”
The ability to create data-rich charts and print them in PDF format was also important. “We needed to share our charts externally, especially during the grant application process,” explains Keith.

Finally, the ANet team’s budget limitations meant they required a solid business case to onboard a new org chart solution. “The initial cost of entry had to be low,” says Keith.

Solution

Keith and his team used Google to zero in on Organimi and other well-known org chart solutions. Organimi’s compatibility with Google immediately made it stand out. “Setting up the integration to Google Workspace took absolutely no time,” says Keith. “It was so easy to complete.”

Organimi’s liberal trial period gave Keith ample time to live test the platform with actual ANet data. “Unless you can use live test the application, you’re not really sure what you’re getting,” says Keith. “With Organimi, we could see right away how easy it was to pull in data from Google.” Keith was also able to integrate phone number data into the Organimi charts and has plans to add photos, geographic locations, and other information as well.

Organimi’s customer support team made the onboarding experience even easier. “Whenever I submitted a support ticket, I got speedy responses. I’ve been really impressed,” says Keith.

Benefits

While it’s in the early days of the Organimi adoption, the ANet team is seeing some immediate benefits. “The platform is so easy to use, and setup took hardly any time,” says Keith. This was largely due to the excellent integration with Google — he anticipates a significant reduction in the time and effort required to create, modify, and maintain the org charts.
Adding more data to the charts over time (including photographs and more detailed employee and contact information) will help ANet reap additional upsides. These include more efficient collaboration and better onboarding for new hires, who can use the comprehensive org charts during orientation to learn about the ANet organization.

Given ANet’s nonprofit status, Organimi’s pricing model has also worked well for the organization. “Organimi doesn’t charge per user,” explains Keith. “That, plus the low cost of entry, made it easy to create the business case to adopt it.”
The feedback Keith has received from his executive team has been excellent. “They love the way you can drill down into the data,” he says. “And they have a lot of great ideas about what we can add to make the charts even better.”

Keith looks forward to getting the most from Organimi. “The Organimi platform is amazing. It does everything it promises and more.”
