With over 100 employees and offices and a national presence, this leading telecommunications integrator designs, installs, and supports private data and wireless networks for a range of corporations and public sector organizations.

The company needed a flexible, cost-effective org chart solution to track changes in the organization, facilitate planning, and improve communications and collaboration across its geographically-dispersed workforce.

Business Challenge

The integrator needed a solution that could act as both an org chart and a directory. It was using another well-known org chart application but found it expensive and difficult to manage. “We were looking for an easier way to share information that was also more cost-effective,” says the firm’s organizational development manager.

With its legacy solution, the company found it difficult to add additional information fields for each employee. “We wanted to include data like hire dates and birthdays,” explains the manager. “Adding this information would help make interactions more personal.”

A simple-to-use, easily accessible org chart was also critical for new hire onboarding. “The org chart is a valuable resource to help new employees learn about the company,” says the manager. “It had to be intuitive, easy to access, and capture a lot of information in one place.”

Solution

The development manager found Organimi through a Google search that identified it as a leading org chart solution. After trialing the application, the company migrated its org charts to Organimi based on the application’s flexibility, user-friendly interface, and cost-effectiveness.

With Organimi, the manager and his team could add several custom data fields to each individual profile. The Organimi charts also served as the company directory and were linked directly to the company’s internal Google page. “It was much easier for our team to find information after we moved to Organimi,” says the manager. “And the charts were always up-to-date.”

The manager and his team recently upgraded to Organimi’s latest release, Version 7.0, with positive results. “I really like the user interface,” the manager says. “I was a fan of Version 5.0, but the new release feels even more streamlined and intuitive to use.”

Benefits

The addition of multiple custom fields into each org chart provided more detailed employee information, helping to boost company-wide collaboration and improve onboarding for new hires. “We get great feedback on the usability of our org charts from new employees,” says the manager. Integration with the company’s internal Google page ensures that all employees can quickly access the most up-to-date charts.

Based on high levels of employee satisfaction, the manager and his team are exploring new ways to improve processes using Organimi Version 7.0. “We’ll be exporting and importing more data, especially to and from Excel,” says the manager. “Version 7.0 should make it even easier than before.”
