From human resource management (HRM) to tax and compliance solutions, New Jersey-based ADP is committed to designing products and solutions to help its customers reach their full potential.

Effective org charts are critical for internal communications and collaboration in a company as large as ADP. For one ADP department, using legacy tools to create and maintain its org charts was labor-intensive, inflexible, and couldn’t provide the detailed information that stakeholders required.

Business Challenge

ADP is a dynamic company with teams dispersed across the globe. For Executive Assistant Fran Patano, creating and updating her department’s org chart using legacy tools meant significant challenges. “We have over 350 people in our department, located in Illinois, El Paso, and the Philippines,” explains Patano. “When I started in the role, we used Visio for org charts. It was difficult to use and had limited functionality.”

Creating org charts in Visio was slow work, and the completed charts couldn’t incorporate all the information Patano and her team wanted to include. Updating the org charts in Visio was time-consuming as well.

“Visio couldn’t capture our department the way we wanted to see it,” says Patano. “We needed to see each geographic team on a separate page.” As the department grew, Patano knew she needed a better org chart solution.

Solution

After conducting Google research, Patano identified Organimi as a possible solution to her org chart challenges. An Organimi introductory class confirmed her findings, leading Patano to migrate her org charts from Visio to Organimi.

“Organimi has made my life easier,” says Patano. “Almost immediately, I was very comfortable with it versus using Visio.” Patano was able to customize her department’s charts and represent each geographic team on a separate page. “This made the charts much more clean and legible,” says Patano. “And, if needed, each region could simply print out their own chart and not have to worry about anyone else.”

Benefits

With Organimi, Patano has reduced the time it takes to create and maintain her department’s org charts. She also enjoys working with Organimi more than the legacy Visio solution. “Visio felt ‘old-school’ and slow,” says Patano. “Organimi is more fun to use and feels more current.”

Patano has received excellent feedback from her department’s user community. “My team loves the new org chart layout,” she says. “They think it’s really clean and easy to use.”

Patano is also eager to explore the features of Organimi’s latest Version 7.0 release. This updated version has streamlined many processes to save users even more time and increased customization options. “I’m looking forward to the new layout features,” says Patano. “I’m excited to see what Version 7.0 has to offer.”
